CHANGE CAMPAIGN

The Change Campaign was launched in March 2021 to coincide with the tenth anniversary of Music Relief Foundation (MRF). This campaign is targeted at young people aged 16–25 years to support them in getting valuable training and gaining employment.

The campaign’s primary focus is to empower young people by providing something tangible to help them in their career and improve their employability skills. We achieve this by collaborating with and connecting young people to local businesses, corporate companies or any entities committed to aiding the community.

Our targets

15+

Young people into work by the end of 2021

35+

Young people into work by the end of 2022

70+

Young people into work by the end of 2023

Overview

MRF offers a two-layered training process to the young person who signs up to the programme and will signpost them for a work placement or further training with a partnering company. The first step is our mandatory wellbeing training that supports an individual’s understanding of purpose and goal setting, and the next step is a choice between further training or a work placement. The wellbeing training will equip the young person with a better mindset and they will be filled with confidence before starting their work placement, which will ensure they get the most out of their time with the company.

Our approach

The Change Campaign empowers young people to change their lives and helps those who need it most — disadvantaged youths. In this context, ‘disadvantaged’ is defined as young people who are from low income or jobless households, face personal difficulties, are in care, are affected by gang-related issues, have a lack of experience, education or poor grades, or who have been identified as at risk of child exploitation, abuse or engaging in criminal activities. We aim to provide early intervention that inspires, motivates, educates and prevents a generation of young people from falling into one of the most significant barriers into work: the cycle of ‘no job — no experience; no experience — no job’. By supporting organisations of all shapes and sizes to unlock the potential of these young people, the Change Campaign can help drive business performance and bring about lasting social change.

Our partners

We have already partnered with Internship Garage, DNI Solutions and Joseph Media, companies that are committed to aiding young people and believe in giving back to the community. These companies will recruit a motivated young person who wants to learn and develop their career.

We would like to partner with other organisations who are willing to support this programme by providing:

• Apprenticeships

• Internships

• Employment

While the young person is at a work placement, MRF will be in contact with them and the employer to ensure everything is going smoothly. We are always here to support with any concerns during and after their time with us.

JOIN US TODAY

To ensure this campaign’s continued success, we want to partner with other organisations and companies that would like to support the grassroots community and give back to vulnerable and disadvantaged young people. Providing them with work placements will allow them to grow, develop their skills and, in turn, support the economy.

Corporate citizenship

Corporate citizenship refers to an organisation’s role in or responsibility towards society. Companies with high citizenship recognise the interests of society as equivalent to business interests and hold themselves accountable for the impact they have on communities.

The Change Campaign aims to increase citizenship efforts and unlock executive power. It offers young people from disadvantaged backgrounds access to work experience, placements, education and links to real jobs. We are addressing the need for skills that open doors to employment.

Providing work experience

We understand that most employers already have existing internships schemes in place. However, the Change Campaign is designed to help vulnerable and disadvantaged young people from grassroots communities. We will be providing support to the young person and the employer to ensure a smooth working arrangement.

The young people we have onboard are highly motivated and eager to learn. We know that people can turn their lives around with the right encouragement and support. We are committed to making long-term differences in many people’s lives.

The Change Campaign is a collaborative project. You will receive continued support from our team and external parties with invested interests in the applicants, such as probation officers, social workers, teachers and parents.

OTHER CAMPAIGNS

KNIFE CRIME

Music Relief Foundation is dedicated to tackling knife crime. We deliver immersive and powerful education programmes in schools and communities. We also aim to engage young people in positive after-school activities to prevent them from becoming involved in criminal behaviour.

GIVE YOUTHS A VOICE

In November 2019, our ambassadors launched a social action campaign called Give Youths A Voice. The campaign used the power of music and film to explore knife crime, mental health problems, life as a young person today, living in Croydon, police encounters and stereotyping.
