Tackling Youth Violence

On the 21st August 2018, Our youth Ambassadors had the opportunity to join the youth advisory broad panel for LondonYouth. 

This was a great opportunity, which presented a platform for young peoples voices to be heard on the matters that concern them most- their safety amidst the rise of violent crimes in the UK.

LondonYouth is doing a great job of highlighting the voice of the youth, and it’s important that we continue to emphasise their voice to ensure we continue to strengthen the young community and not alienate them whilst violence rips through the boroughs of London and the rest of the UK. Though we have seen in recent months, movement towards implementing new political strategies to fight the rise of violence – as the London Mayor Sadiq Khan has been reported to have been planning ways to combat gang and knife related crimes, however it is predicted that London will face the highest rise of deadly crimes in 2018, more so than New York, USA.  Such a statistic only forces us to re-evaluate what needs to be done.  Where have we gone wrong in our communities and what needs to be corrected?

We hope more visible and public platforms are created, so young voices can become so loud that it will eventually drown out the noise of violence.
